Somalis will absolutely *not* be sent to serve Ajnabis in slavery-like conditions, where people are oftentimes mistreated. Some may say that we have maids in our countries, but the abusive nature of the kafala system is on another level. Their employers are horrible as well. Most of them can't even leave the country without approval, let alone change employer. Which gives them free reign to do with the workers as they wish.

We already have bad as it is, and we certainly don't need more problems and hassles that comes with dealing with, whenever one of our citizens get mistreated

We already have this. Many jobless women are married off to 70 year old men or are forced into prostitution nowadays. Others tahriib and throw themselves into the sea to get to these countries.

Get them some jobs and have them work a few years and come back. Would provide much needed money into the economy and also lift them out of absolute poverty.

Just because people in desperate circumstances are go there and are taken advantage of, doesn't mean that we should provide a legal avenue with the same end result?!?! We should instead discourage them and make sure that they don't end up there in the first place.

In fact, I'm not against people working abroad and in the Middle East for that matter. But unless the kafala system is reformed, we shouldn't proactively facilitate this.

I remember a similar ‘outrage’ when HSM was accused of getting work visa permits from Saudi and women took advantage of that.

He deserved whatever outrage his actions caused. HSM is the same person who denied any abuses was inflicted on foreign maids in KSA. With this mind and him being in a position of authority; are you expecting people to be silent?

Funny enough, Somalis were one of the ethnic groups not allowed to be maids/domestic workers in Saudi because of us being seen as fellow Arabs. If you go to the households of Riyadh or Jeddah you’d never see a Mauritanian, Sudanese (north), or Egyptian maid.

It was the same for Somalis too before HSM secured a deal for the girls to be accepted as domestic workers in the Gulf.
