They had the option to join Ethiopia in 1960 as Britain proposed them to be a Kilil of Ethiopia and they refused and joined Somalia without any conditions.

They already have autonomy under this structure just no SSC.

First of all, the region is mixed in clans. Outside of GB, there are other clans living in the corridor from Jigjiga to both Awdal or to the other border crossing point reaching Maroodi-Jeex. In that case they need agreement with those clans as well, some of whom won’t accept this.

SL can barely get recognition after claiming to be independent from Somalia, what makes you think that it will be recognized as Ethiopian (if they went ahead with it)?

Also, Jigjiga will never be a federal territory as long as it has a Somali majority or people who are against it. We’ve seen how border changes have caused conflicts and they are not ready to start this all over again..

The SFG has already stated it's stance and won't retract, unless Ethiopia takes a different approach and undermines Somalia. It seems like a dead end and not worth entertaining till they actually make a move. That's why it's pointless for these Media pages to make up theories and fear monger.

Ethiopia will use it's proxy's in Awdal to rain rockers at Djibouti and cause it instability.
