Can even put high import tax on Khat and Vegetables (nothing coming in right now anyways) and boost local production.

Ethiopia leverage is tremendous, first and foremost her troops are occupying large swathes of the country while others are on standby in case anything kicks off, this is all the leverage she needs.

Nope we don’t need their fruits and veggies. Why buy from Ethiopians and give them even more when we can buy from Hiiraan or better yet grow it our own in Wajale, Gabiley, Awdal, Togdheer, and Sanaag. Somaliland population is relatively small and manageable. Let’s keep it that way and not bring in Oromos.

Khat and Vegetables import is blocked right now. But usually, 1-2 m USD per day Khat, and I think around 100m USD / year in vegetables are coming from Ethiopia to Somaliland. And 95% of vegetables in SL are of Ethiopian origin (or so I heard). The ban right now suddenly made a lot of people interested in greenhouses and gardening, so a welcome opportunity for local, Somaliland production to start kicking off.

Ethiopian goods going through the country is a win-win, no need to be hostile.
