I think it's the way it's used. madow as a word is used to distinguish between non-somali black people and somali people.

Madow is used like that but Somalis also use it to refer to our own skin colour too.

the only reason for that is because they were able to escape colonialism (other than mussolini's occupation). they're used as an easy rebuttal against pro-colonialism who people.
