I sort of derailed another thread so I will create on here to share the absolute depravity in Ethiopia.

Again, it is stunning to see how the depravity in killing and torturing civillians going on there does not raise any concerns. Ethiopia itself is a PR operation.

Somalis do not realize how much better off we are even though we are demonized by western media and any incident in Somalia becomes international headlines.

Meanwhile, no one knows or cares about what is happening in Ethiopia.

So share the examples of what is going on there here. Just this week.


Forced conscription since their military fell apart. They are kidnapping boys and forcing them into the military and extorting their peasant families to have their kidnapped sons released.

They push the need of Ethiopian troops to safeguard peace in southern Somalia, when they can't safeguard stability in their own regions

The forced conscription and the militias and troops moving through territories acting like barbaric criminal bands is something that continued from the medieval period into the present day throughout Ethiopian history.

This thread more or less covers their human wave tactics(basically use their own people/troops as dispensable cannon fodder) but also mentions the same thing about forced conscription's and the army kidnapping little boys, the frequent beheadings and executions. So it's been an ongoing theme in their history


I actually mentioned in another thread that the reception of the Somali army compared to the Ethiopian during the conquest of Abyssinia was the perception that we were seen as liberators by they Ethiopian peasants. Because their army brutalized and oppressed.

Just to add this last one:

When Somalis conquered the highlands , they were seen as liberators by the populations living there: As the Portuguese stationed there noted: Ethiopians pretty much hated their monarch and their lords oppressed them

This oppression pretty much continued into 19th century and i believe it relates to the issue today as well.

Their dirgo army groups would move throughout the highlands and sexually assault the villagers and steal from them and ruin their dwellings. Almedia gives an account on this:

it makes me wonder how much more free, prosperous and progressive the whole horn would have been if the Portuguese didn't get involved and the Muslims maintained control of the highlands.

And i feel like it would have rid people of ethnic/religious differences and people would have come under one collective cultural identity rooted in Islam.

Also much more would have been preserved in the process.

But you are right Ethiopia is a big PR operation and it comes from their brutal subjugation of their own people where they also suppress information and a large state apparatus for propaganda & spying on dissidents , their nack for making grandiose narratives and their allyship with the west.

We have seen with Isreal how far western allyship and judeo-christian bias , will make them over look crimes, genocides, death and destruction and breaking international and humanitarian laws. Western media outlets , safe for non-western ones like TRT and Al-Jazzera withwashes them all the time or gives no coverage to it.

Same probably applies here.
