Ethiopia will modernize. Unfortunately, I don't see them seceding or heading to a civil war. The only people Somalis got to blame are low-IQ taxi drivers that were accepted to rule our country. With zero knowledge of economics

New World

the people's champ
Thank Allah, this didn't happen.

I believe that Ethiopia will not break apart. Instead, it may undergo a change of power, continuing the cycle it has always experienced. A new leader rises, instigates a civil war, and then falls. However Ethiopia never fully breaks apart.

It only causes the country to waste resources fighting and then rebuilding to start it all over again. Slowing down its growth.

I remember reading that abiy was looking for funds to rebuild tigray after the civil war.

I think this time it’s different. Ethnic federalism has made Ethiopia less united than when it was under a more centralized government. These ethnic divisions will make it harder to bring the pieces back together if their country goes into a civil war

The entire video doesn't seem very realistic in my opinion though, hence he had to make many modifications for it to even happen.

Just watched the Adal war section lmao. I hate youtube pseudo historians they just read the wikip3dia page. Ethiopia was already using muskets long before the Adal war. Adal itself was just getting out of a civil war while Ethiopia had a decade of relative peace. The real reason why Ethiopia lost was because Lebna Dengel attempted to take power from the nobles. Which led to them easily swaying to the Muslim side. Ethiopian sources portray him as a drunk and arrogant heretic. While Muslim sources mostly do the same. Ethiopia were attempting to contact European powers since the reign of Zara Yaqob even Eleni tried to contact them in 1525. The Ethiopians were lucky enough in the present time that they ven came at all.

Ethiopia needs to continue to prosper. I hope they don't get dragged into a civil war. Somalis back home need to feel the pressure of Ethiopia growing into a regional power. China was xooged all the time; look at them now. We need to feel the pressure of the competition

You sure? I heard many times that the ethiopians didn't possess muskets and it was only the adalites that did during the war

We already felt enough for the past 500 years it is our turn to take the spotlight and I hope we do.

I also hate this if king pseudo history that Ahmad wanted to become the new emperor of Ethiopia. Firstly, Adal was older the Solomonic dynasty itself, the Amhara were not considered the successors of Axum directly. Axum Negus was called Najashi, Ethiopian was called Al Hatti, even when Ahmed did conquer Ethiopia he didn’t even stay at Axum for a whole day his actual capital was Dembiya. This was just pushed Ethiopians who wanted to pretend Ahmed was ethiopian

That‘s fake.
Portuguese traveler Francisco Alvarez mentions that Lebna Dengel was buying muskets from the Turks in 1520

The Futuh Al Habesha mentions that while the Ethiopians were fleeing battle they had to discard 8 cannons which were subsequently picked up by the victorious Adalites

So rather we were superior to them in stragical genius and not through weaponry

@awsaleban667 so what was the driving force that caused the adalites consecutive successes against the ethiopians until the portigese arrived.

In the late 19th to early 20th century, forget about the average person, most Ethiopian nobles/upper class were illiterate. Even their Emperors were often illiterate.
Japan’s largest city Edo/Tokyo had a population of 1 million of which 70 % were literate in 1866. That’s higher than Addis Ababa today. Bear in mind, they were a pre industrial society at the time.

Number one reason is The help of Allah (Ethiopian sources agree they say Ahmed was sent as a curse because Lebna Dengel was arrogant), Second is the natural superiorty of Somalis over Habeshis, Third is that Lebna Dengel was hated by his nobility

You can’t modernise in a society like that.

How about somalia?
