An Italian charity heard about her story as she was getting in trouble with Ethiopian authorities regularly over protests and raising awareness over the land grabbing done by the government, so she was flown out and given resources to relocate.

Jare-er isn't an insult. It literally just refers to a hair texture. Some Somalis use it with an air of contempt or superiority sure but it is not meant to be an insult like caling someone an "Adoon" or the n-word. It's just another in a long line of descriptor words Somalis used for other racial groups like Cadaan, Dhagacas, Timo Jileec and Indhoyar.
