I agree with the OP in the thread:
Most of my fellow Habesha diaspora brethren are cringe Pan-Africanists and assimilate into the social construct of "blackness" - in some part due to historical reasons of our own doing admittedly. And to my surprise, this is the case for a fair amount of Somalis I'm seeing even in this forum, though you guys definitely seem broadly much more resistant. I'd wager your Islam has something to do with that. There's an alarming rate of marriages between Ethiopians and non Ethiopians. The population of Ethiopians in the west will slowly but surely disappear in the decades to come. I believe that it is occurring because we have been instilled to believe in this made up notion of being "black", which in reality is just a way to rob us of our history and identity. Has anyone else come up with this conclusion as well??hno:
I want Horner diaspora to craft a new sense of self that incorporates a real understanding of our our past and culture, and is also conducive to achieving success and personal and intellectual development in modernity. This madow stuff is a dead-end and fails on both counts.
