I find it very bizarre that there are Ethiopians online who like to pretend to be black supremacist (especially their women) and call Somali Italian slaves and such. It is bizarre that they flex about never being colonized. I did the math of "colonization" which btw was 42 years. Just keep in mind even England was colonized by the Romans for centuries. Why do these Ethiopians think this is a flex and why don't their fake black supremacy card get revoked? Yet Somalis are the ones disliked more than them when they taunt us for being colonized. What about the rest of Africa?

Of course a nation will get colonized if they are bombed like both Somalia and Ethiopia were. Imo I think low key black supremacists hate/love Ethiopians for 1 being seen as the closest to Ancient Egyptians which black supremacist exalt and 2nd for their royalty Haile Selassie. Westerns love the whole resistance movements which is why they love Arafat and the M.E resistance movements.

Selassie represented that and the Europeans favoured him more than Garvey who imo was far more impressive. Garvey didn't come from royalty and was from an oppressed group but yet he rose. He also told Black Americans the truth about their status. And post-trump world is evidence he was right, they will always keep dealing with racism when things get bad. Yet Selassie was worshiped more than Garvey by his own people which is such a shame, but he was ahead of his time.

I do think Selassie's speech was wonderful where he predicted WW1/2. But I wonder how Ethiopians have gotten away with their obvious tribalism and superiority complex and yet Somalis get dragged. What is interesting is everywhere Somalis live with Ethiopians in the West, they have this superiority complex and think we are savage, but they are just weak minded. I have never seen Ethiopians in the West dominate like Somalis do. But how they created this image is insane to me.

This is because the British were colonised about 2000 years ago and have mostly gotten over it, whereas Somali ended colonisation just under 100 years ago, Furthermore the world was less advanced in general so the brits had time to get ahead whilst somalia and the rest of africa are still dealing with neocolonialism i.e. beating them while theyre down, Black supremacy as an ideology comes from america as a reaction for their own race tensions and was exported to their fellow christian africans, and in that philosophy ethiopians who had the most amicable relations with the white overlords are supreme

I think its because somalia unlike most african countries is an monoethnic state, with ethiopia the concept of being multiethnic is meant to promote equality and that everyone the same we all love each other, but in practice that is far from true, Whereas somalia has no need to portray this facade given we dont have any significant ethnic minorities in our lands.

Also somali behaviour is unyielding to authority thats why we have never made this image for ourselves, we can live without it so we dont pursue it, That kind of mindset is one hypothesis why the european countries industrialised faster, their lives were harder in the cold dreary countries so they were forced to innovate more. It's not a compliant it's a question. I am asking for others to answer the question. i shared my views, as I do not understand this. Where did you sense I was complaining? I am perplexed as to how they have this standing. Surely, if they view Somalis as inferior for being colonized by the Europeans they would think this of the rest of Africa correct?

they actually do but ethiopians are quite cowardly and double-faced. you should see how they speak about south Sudan and ethiopian nilotes. somalis are more open with our bigotry which is quite sad but also makes it easier to speak out about.

Thank for sharing. I think this is the answer. I think Ethiopia has done a good job keeping the three religions which have been hard to get along with (Judiaism, Islam, Christianity), that is very impressive. It is very hard to do especially when you compare it other places. I think they deserve credit.

I do not want any acceptance to any supremacy movement, if that is what others think is motivating me, it's not. I enjoy being Somalia and having a distinct culture. Perhaps that's why someone accused me of complaining. I wasn't arguing that Somalis should included but rather why Ethiopians are, if that makes sense. They are just as distinct as Somalis and have more in common with us than Jamaicans. But due to black supremacist brainwashing and othering of us sometimes you can't even have this convo but thanks for explaining. It makes sense from your perspective.

This is what amazes me as to why people think Africans history of colonization was brutal (in some places it was) but it was a so insignificant in time, its just the technology, wealth of the west cannot be denied. But like I said most African nations weren't colonized for over a 100, Somali was for 42 years. You can count this time as neo-colonial. But like the Natives, a lot of it is wanted, since people want modern medicine, air conditions, cars etc. The old way of living especially as a nomad is hard.

Yes but social media is exposing them as others have caught on to it. They are far from black supremacists and I wish people stopped promoting that. But they are brazen with it online. They mock and belittle Somalis and of course Somalis give them enough smoke back. I think people find it entertaining but I had an Arab dude tell me that we are more cruel to each other than arabs and jews lol (before Oct 7th). There are arabs in the IDF and Jewish sympathizers for Palestinians, I highly doubt a Somali would serve for Ethiopia's army vice versa. I do think though if it were to happen I can see Ethiopians liking Somalis a lot more especially Oromo but Amharas are just as ruthless as Somalis.

But it is if you consider it native land that yes it was colonized and natives still live in colonized areas or reserves they gave them. These views of feeling colonized come from their own opinion, not mine. Have you heard of the Irish Republic Army who commit terrorism against the British including the Royals (they killed the Uncle of King Charles). Somaliland are seen as ethnically and linguistically the same as Somalis, whereas Welsh is a separate language not even from the same family tree. It would be like comparing Amharic to Somali. English is a West German language. I do agree its not helpful way of thinking but others think like this. I don't know if Somalilanders will ever let it go. It seems like there was always warring tribes, perhaps the peace Somalia under Barre wasn't ever a real thing anyways. People make it seem like Somalia was always peaceful and this violence is unusual but I don't think so. The Mad Mullah was fighting for 20 years etc. always warring tribes. Barre might have been the anomaly. It's hard to have peace on lands with famines etc. Perhaps the discovery of oil will change things.

I think Somalia has many similarities to the British who were tribal until one dominated and even then there was resistance. Btw French Canadians feel colonized too and want separation.
