But never seems to work in a? Despite having more than 2000 ethnic groups, more than 20 languages, and so many different religions and creeds, a powerful central government still reigns over the entire nation and the 1.2+ billion people believe in it and support it. To date, there are no credible or significant movements that aim at balkanizing the country or establishing an ethnic-based region. In stark contrast to this, the 10.5 million population Somalia are simply too large to ever be credibly governed ever again by any central government from any region in the country. The country is poised to be balkanized and fragmented forever. This is despite the fact that these people apparently share the same ethnicity, religion, culture, customs, etc.

So, what is going on here then? What are your explanations? Maybe, just maybe, the diverse people living in the Somali peninsula are not at all related to one another, are not at all apart of the same ethnic group, are vastly different from each other culturally and in terms of heritage? Perhaps Somaliness has always been about the language and language only? Some things for you to consider and chew on. Indians definitely seem to be a lot more related to one another given how they can all come together and establish a successful and powerful central government, while the people living in the Somali peninsula who allegedly share the same ethnicity have demonstrated they are incapable of ever doing that and that it is effectively impossible for any type of government to ever rule over them again in the future.

First of all india has a federal government and have federal institutions this is suitible to them because there are different religons,languages and ethnic groups residing in that country.

Most people don't know this, but Japan consists of hundreds of tribes and clans. The Japanese were a very qabiilist people, but look at them today. They managed to overcome this qabiilist disease and look at the nation they've built for themselves.

I'm confident Somalia can be like this as well---in perhaps a couple of generations---if we get our act together now.

What you need to understand Federalism works for people with different ethnic,religious,culture and language. So it wont work for somalis since it is very homogenous country. At the same time a centralism wont work because we are divided into clans.

What will work is largely a Decentralized Unitary system of governance.
