I’m sick and tired of Somalis being self haters when it comes to our food/dialects. Whenever someone posts cambuulo/muufo they all flock in the comments calling it nasty and disgusting I mean what is so disgusting about beans? No other culture does this, cambuulo is a big thing in Japanese and Chinese culture but you don’t see them degrading their food it’s only Somalis that do it. Also I’m sick and tired of this laxoox/canjeero debate, both are correct stop trying to act like one isn’t. If you are ignorant about the diversity of Somalia get a book instead of acting dumb asf.

Muufo flatbread is actually delicious. Most ignorants don’t know a type of muufo has always been eaten in the countryside. I am surprised Somalis in the West don’t serve it as street food with stuffed meats like chicken. It will happen soon as Somali street food is becoming popular.

Cambuulo served with sugar should not be a national diet. We have too much variety in a food for sugar with beans to be one of our main dishes.

It’s literally plain beans lol, I think it tastes nice when you add sugar & macsaro but it’s not for everyone.

These kind of Somali outlets will be pop in more place inshallah. I was speaking to a Pakistani guy a few years and he was asking why Somalis don’t cater sweet shops/ bakeries to serve xalwa and Somali to outsiders. Somali food has a lot of potential in the West.

Before the civil war, most people ate cambuulo with odkac, if you wanted savory option, and if you craving sweet, you added subag and malab/sokor.

I love eating my cambuulo with bunn ( roasted coffee beans), timir, popcorn and odkac, with shaax bigees on the side
