Factions during 1991+, Who were they and what were their goals.

So Somalis fucked up their own country starved their own killing 300-500k stopped food from coming in and when America and the UN saved the people today we blame America and the west for something we did ?
The blame can solely be put on Somalis for what they did during the 90s but when the civil war had finished in 2006, America extended the civil war by greenlighting an illegal invasion that set Somalia back by another decade.

What's your opinion of tribal militias allied to the state?
I noticed you originally referred to them as Barre loyalists. What's your opinion on the state's use of tribal militias?

A few members, including certain influential figures and small groups outside his tribe, remained loyal to him. Among all tribal militias, those directly linked with Barre's government were notably the most ruthless. Morgan, who professed loyalty to Barre, committed atrocious acts during his violent actions, contributing to a famine that claimed nearly 500,000 lives. Barre pursued a policy of attempting to replace clans other than his own with his preferred tribes.

In the northern regions, the stories are widely known, particularly the deliberate targeting of Isaaq people through aerial and artillery attacks. There were efforts to resettle Barre's kisnmen in the traditional Isaaq territory, displacing the local population. His soldiers, essentially a militia of his kinsmen, were sent to perpetrate acts of rape and murder. An attempted genocide very much.

Hawiye, although spared the full brunt of what happened to the Isaaq and Raxanweyn, still faced significant repression. This included poisoning wells, seizing land for his kinsmen, killings and the cleansing of intellegentsia.

If anyone should bear blame, it's Siad Barre and his henchmen, who radicalized all of Somalia. His use of clan for power, especially evident in his final days when he prioritized his clan's interests, created a situation where other militia groups saw survival as contingent upon resisting a government intent on tribal genocide. The fact that everything turned into a tribal shit show was clear from the start, Barre used clan to stay in power and overestimated the strength of his own tribe. In the end he lost.

I agree with much of what you said except the attempted part. The genocide was carried out.

Can You post source origins from the documents

Read again. Whatever atrocities Siad Barre commited against the Isaaq did not in anyway justify the mass killings and yes purging "the abrupt or violent removal of a group of people from an organization or place." Which is different from a genocide which has a more permanent implication. 80,000 Gadabuursi being forced to flee, and the effects of the SNM being so great that it even permanently changed the demographics off Awdal, does that not sound like a massive purge has taken place, which when talking to survivors corraborates that claim?
Lol the Sameroon returned from Ethiopia. There was no permanent change of Awdal's demographics. The Cisse left on their own free will to find a better life in the Djiboutian State. The recent 2021 elections showed there is less than 1k Isaaq living in Awdal. There are more Sameroon in Hargeisa than Isaaq in Borama.

HE was trained in the United States I know thats a sign of something greater isnt it, Looks like siad had it good in till 1978 then got another hit in 1982, another with his car crash in 1986 a failed coup somewhere in 1987 then the stuff that went down in the 90s

@CABDULWALI XASAN. All three militias were opposing the bare regime they all joined forces then captured xamar and weakened the bare regime but then hawiye usc attacked darood spm and turned the liberation war into clan war then later on SPM Darod split due to internal divisions and lost Kismaayo as a result before retaking it back later on.
Neither SNM or SPM had anything to do with the final push to overthrow Barre from Mogadishu. It was USC's sole effort particularly the Abgaal militia under the command of Mehdi.

No this is the delusion of your own you can against both like many people were.

SNM were qabiilist bastards who made it impossible to work with them Haji Abdi Waraabe admitted this and tried to advice them not to do that.

If you are so attached to qabiil than that's your business i hope you don't mind being raised with them on the day of judgement

Well, that's your opinion. Existing literature clearly shows SNM (Afaraad & civilian arm of SNM) used all peaceful measures to address MOD abuse of power in Isaaq territory. It was Barre and his Faqash loyalists who refused to keep their militia fall back in line. They doubled down on their pro Afweyne policies and we had to use force to liberate our homeland. We'll do it all over again if we go back in time.

@CABDULWALI XASAN. All three (spm snm usc) militias met in Dir Dhabe and agreed to join forces to take down bare regime, all was going well until daanyeers became daanyeers and suddenly attacked Darod SPM and made accusations against them after the capture of Mogadishu, it wasn’t Isaaq who started the civil war, it wasn’t Harti and Absame it wasn’t even the minorities it was Habargidir.

Who cares, they all failed.

The SNM failed where the EPLF succeeded, likewise USC failed where TPLF succeeded.

Our rebels were retarded oafs who've condemned us to perpetual misery.

We need to move on from our past.
History dosent repeat but it Often rhymes... Let me have a chance to learn just exit if you dont want to see misery

Are you blind?😮

USC had 2 main factions. Faction led by Caydiid is the one who signed the triple threat agreement. The Mehdi faction, one who actually overthrow Afweyne never recognized the agreement leading SNM to declare independence. It was also the reason Caydiid and Mahdi fought so bitterly. Caydiid saw Mehdi's coup as blatant power move by Mehdi to hijack his 3 years struggle against Barre. He was fighting in the Central and southern regions only for Mehdi to show up last minute in his clan's stronghold in Mogadishu and toke all glory declaring himself as president.
