Even Wahhabis believe your wali after your father is your brother. No madhabs believes an uncle is the primary wali after your father.

I'm hearing of far too many cases of fobs entering secret marriages which ends uo causing shambolic situations. In Islam, it goes father, then paternal grandfather, then brother. The brother has MORE rights to be a wali than the uncle.

It's got nothing to do with being older. Her brother can indeed be her wali if he is of sound mind and an adult as he is her close mahram. If her brother gave her away then the validity of her marriage shouldn't be a topic of discussion and her uncle has no say. It's just that in Somali culture, when the father and grandfather have passed away, usually the role is delegated to the older uncle as a sign of respect, but technically, her brother actually has more rights to be her Wali.

If there were witnesses to the nikkah or marriage then the marriage is valid. A walis permission isn't required but a good number of witnesses and sheikhs to announce it is.
