Horta what i don't understand is the fact that we have the second largest coastline in Africa yet Somalis are dying of starvation. why not abandon the shitty nomadic life altogether and move near the sea.

The people have no formal education, they exists in a world devoid of compassion and curiosity and therefore have to rely on what their communities tell them. Hence why qabil is a problem with scare ressources :farole:

fish is not scarce, and you don't need an education to fish. unless qabiil plays into this and people don't want other qabiils in their territory, then i dont see a problem. there's a bloody drought every few years, yet no one is using their common sense. nomadic lifestyle in this day and age is just a disaster waiting to happen. they just need to think outside the box. we might not have fertile land but we have an entire sea full of untouched fish. most countries would kill for our coastline and their people would never starve, yet here we are every two years.

We depend too much on live-stock and only 3 % depend on fish :manny:

We should move from it though but that requires techonology and moving from once secure communties :kodaksmiley:

well that 3% got the right idea because they'll never go hungry. Somalis definitely lack initiative which is why this saga keeps repeating.

instead of scrambling to raise funds for the victims every year, we need to literally teach them how to fish.

It might lead to over-fishing and climate change will also affect the fish streams :manny:

Somali economy is largely driven by life-stocks:damedamn:

Initially, the road that connects Gaalkacyo to Bosaso was meant to be build few miles of the coast, but the clans that lived there refused because they were afraid that clans that border them on the west would grab their lands, so they chose Galkayo-Bosaso is for strategic reasons. Had the road been few miles of the coast, many people would have been into fishery and abandon nomadic lifestyle.

It seems crazy to us but when you have been trough war where only your sub-sub-sub clan can be trusted and you never had a good interaction with government in 30 years, it is understandable :manny:

Somalia needs healing and competent governance first and foremost :damedamn:

:mindblown:
what on earth is wrong with these people?

fucking qabyaalad is the death of us.
i just cant fathom how these retards will sleep knowing they prevented poor people from having a chance to survive these droughts :snoop:

The useful coast in Somalia is actually much less than you think. The coast north of Garacad in Mudug becomes mountainous and difficult to develop. This remains so until you reach Berbera. The coastal communities in those regions are largely cut off from the rest of the country, there are no roads.

Your lack of empathy is stunning.

These people are uneducated and many only know war and surpression, they have not been taught right from wrong but instead been told to justify it.

In that context it makes sense, because you'd never had to rely on your clan for survival but they had to, and allowing the road may have meant another clan could subject them :manny:

from the way things are going, the nomadic lifestyle is finished. global warming has done its damage and will continue to do even more in the coming decade. i dont see a way out for these people that to tell them to move to a town near the seaside and fish.

other than jubbaland, do we even have arable land?

Somalis look down on fish. I remember seeing people plugging their noses when they'd see cooked fish.

lack of empathy kulaha:mindblown:

naya/warya you are the one without empathy. there's no excuse that can justify letting your brothers and sisters starve just cos you feared another qabiil will take over your land.

how would letting poor reer badiyo have access to the sea cause them to be subjugated?

Look at it from there prospective and work from there :camby:
