The Germanic English who originated from Denmark and Saxonia and therefore foreign to the British isles completely uprooted the entire native peoples of old Brittania. The Welsh, Cornish, Scots and Irish who were all Celtic in origin were all systematically Anglicized. The English language was the only official language that was allowed and only in recent history was there a push to revive these almost extinct languages and cultures.
