Farmaajo’s govt is finished, is he the worst president in Somalia’s history after HSM?

I do not care for qabils, just a proven track record. Farmaajo came out of nowhere, becoming the prime minister. He did a great job before being unfairly ousted. That is why I supported Farmaajo for the presidency, and so far he has done a good job. Kheyre is doing a good job as PM and should he run to become the president I would support him. After Kheyre I want Beyle to run for presidency. Beyle has done a good job in as the treasury minister. That will give us 24 years of Farmaajo/Kheyre/Beyle. The progress Somalia will make in those 24 years will be amazing.
How has farmaajo done a good job? I’d really like to know what major accomplishments he has. Nothing personally against the guy, he seems decent and clean. But I fear Somalia needs a killer.:francis:

Farmaajos adminstration iswinning

Federal states can no longer do their annual Addis Ababa pilgrimage

Has managed to redirect the foreign policy of the country

Managed to minimizecorruption at its lowest ever only second to Siad Barre in 1970’s

Managed to stop thedaily/weekly bombs in the capital

Gets its biggest funding ever from EU €420 million thanks to corruption free

Turkeys training militaryfacility producing very disciplined soldiers and officers chosen on merit and free from drugs unlike the federal states militia

Brought back the control of the airspace back to Somalia

With another 4 years with this administration Somalia will most likely stand on its feet

I said major accomplishments. Most of this is questionable at best. Please provide a reference for the 420 million from the EU.

i hope you know that farmaajo has proven by facts alone that he is the best president for the south since siad barre. he has accomplished more. and the thing about al shabab only proves that their funders dont like the progress he is making and are using al shabab too try to stop his development. bro the guy got us debt relief, control of our air space, most tax collected, etc. i agree he has been a thorn for us puntites but hes the best president mogadishu has seen in a long time. facts speak for it self.

You call yourself a puntite and say that he is the best president for the south since siad. Forgetting the man who brought gov back to the south. Interesting.:ehh:

So you think farmaajo was better than your uncle yeey as a what I assume to be harti:russ:

"Federal states can no longer do their annual Addis Ababa pilgrimage"

This can be attributed to Abiy's rise to power and Oromos ironically want a strong stable Somalia while Somalis themselves don't part of it is to hedge us against their main threats which are the Tigray and frenemy Amahara, they fear Abyssinian reconciliation at their expense.

The stars aligned for farmaajo to use this change in the geopolitical stance of Ethiopia to his advantage but don't attribute this solely as the work of the Farmaajo administration.

Has managed to redirect the foreign policy of the country

His first foreign policy test was a failure, he ran as a nationalist who opposed the draconian Ethiopian regime but he succumbed to their plot to muddy the early days of his Presidency by handing over a renowned colonel:

Abdikarim Sheikh Mussa aka Qalbi dhagax, a man who enlisted in the SNA at the age of 17 and 77 war veteran.
His renderation was in violation of the principle of non-refoulment laid out in the 1954 UN convention, he was also a Somali national, minus a point.

As of now the main two backers of Mogadishu are Qatar and Turkey, the opposition is Saudi Arabia and the UAE, Farmaajo cannot abandon the UAE and Saudis as Somalia's export market is hugely dependent on them but he also must satisfy Turkey who are the main party in building the national army and Qatar who have bank rolled his election and also have supported the government with generous aid.

The only foreign policy change is his aggressive stance towards the UAE, which I believe is the main export market for Somalia, wouldn't it be wise to not totally depend on the UAE?

Move some of the exports to new markets such as Indonesia(which they have done), Malaysia, etc explore other markets to prevent your foreign policy from being dependent on them. He managed to shut down the UAE training base in Mogadishu which was a national security concern so I'll give him a point for that.

To conclude the foreign policy of Somalia is very amateurish and lacking clarity especially after the khashoggi fiasco in which the government hastily offered their support for the house of Saud, minus a point.

You can argue he cannot do anything about this as the country is weak and vulnerable so I'll give him a pass on this one. He's done nothing apart from bullying the UAE:drakewtf:

Yeah right but that's not a very high bar after all the transitional administrations and Hassan Sheikh. :drakekidding:

Somalia State of Accountability 2017/18

noteworthy excerpts:

"Corruption reports from the FGS ministries have been received by marqaati at an almost similar pace as in the period covered in our last report, suggesting that there has been no change in culture with the change in government."

"In 29 March 2017, the cabinet appointed by Prime Minister Hassan Ali Kheyre was approved by the parliament. Due to the prevailing political situation, the PM tried to buy loyalty by giving some influential MPs up to $100,000. After six months, and with a no-confidence vote in the works, the PM changed his tactics. One was either for the administration or against the state"

"The then-speaker of the House of the People, Mohamed Osman Jawari, was unwilling to let the administration lift the immunity of the accused MPs. Additionally, he refused to sign on to an agreement to ensure that he would support the President and PM in any no-confidence motion."

"In March 2018, following the reopening of Parliament, the PM, under the direction of the President, mobilised MPs to help remove Jawaari and install an individual who would fall in line with the executive. As had
become the norm, MPs were paid to sign the no-confidence motion."

Not reported as this was recent , Khaire just bought a seat for one the Warsangeli federal mp positions within Puntland for a reported $100,000 so his friend and reported 2020 running mate current planning minister Gamal Hassan.

Managed to stop the daily/weekly bombs in the capital

The war against Al Shabaab is a never ending stalemate designed in part by the spoilers of Somalia, they don't want Al Shabaab to gain the upper hand nor do they want a strong stable government.

Bombings occur in spurts not daily/weekly that's absurd, one month it might be worse than the other, one week might be worse than the other so on and so forth.

Bombings have intensified recently and has been consistent until the relatively quiet period that followed the worst bombing in the history of Somalia, which occurred on October 14th, 2017, fatalities totaled 587 with a further 316 injured. This occurred 6 months into the Farmaajo administration. :comeon:

Doesn't help that their has been no consistency as he has been chomping and changing intelligence/security appointments within his cabinet. A suspected terrorist has taken charge of the intelligence agency and will now be accountable for the security of the country, minus a point for this one.

A couple moral victories with the capture of Merka, Burweyn, Dibiley, Faxale, might be more that I haven't listed. The last three are small villages but merka is a strategic port city and it has been captured in the past by AMISOM, the question is can they hold on to it? Can they sustain the pressure on Al Shabaab?

Why Cash and Connections Remain Somalia’s Most Popular Currencies

noteworthy excerpts:

"Well, of course. Somalia’s politicians are ready for more loans and dodgy deals such as Soma Oil and Gas, whose former Executive Director for Africa is the country’s current prime minister. Never mind the glaring conflict of interests.

"However, international aid gradually morphed into the carrot-dangler that lures all across the political spectrum, the gatekeeper of the political process, and the legitimizer of any selected new government through corruption as long as it does not challenge certain dubious deals such as Soma Oil and Gas and the massive IMF and World Bank debts."

"If I was not blunt enough in the past, let me try again. The international apparatus that was set up to “fix Somalia” is the main hoax for keeping it perpetually broken. As long as there are corrupt or pitifully credulous Somali politicians who are eager to legitimize the current system for their personal gains the nation will remain at the mercy of international and local predators."

The excerpt explains itself, the budget deal totals $115 million over 30 months not the amount you listed. We will see if the allocated amount reaches is used for its intended purposes

Turkeys training military facility producing very disciplined soldiers and officers chosen on merit and free from drugs unlike the federal states militia

Turkey's foreign policy is a continuatation of Turkey's foray into Somalia from the Erdogan visit in 2011 during Sheikh Sharif's Presidency, to Hassan Sheikh signing the deal for the construction of the training base and opening its embassy in 2016, nothing noteworthy done by Farmaajo.

No findings on producing more disciplined soldiers, you can argue that Farmaajo is the first President to get a steady supply of SNA troops, the base only opened in 2017, Turkey would only take a limited amount of recruits for overseas training before the local base was opened, I'll take it as propaganda

It's going to take longer than that son, the improvements haven't been astronomical you need to relax. Until noticeable progress is made in the war vs Al Shabaab, until Corruption is rooted out from important institutions within the government, until we move forward with one form of governance whether it's a centralized system or federal system, we will not stand on our feet.

I don't think he will seek another term btw, I think he is paving the way for Kheyre in 2020.

I forgot to include the ripoff port deal or "MOU" as some might say signed by Farmaajo to give a share of 4 ports to Ethiopia, in return we get "investments" from a cash strapped country in a pool of debt:drakelaugh:
