The latest docs I've watched are history-related, US history in particular. We actually have a pretty gnarly past.
I really enjoyed...
1) The Cats of Mirikatani
About Tsutomu Mirikatani's (a Japanese-"American") experience in the US Japanese internment camps of WWII. It sorta juxtaposes America's reaction to Pearl Harbor to that of 9/11, and explores Mirikatani's long-held feelings of hate and displeasure for the U.S., how he became homeless on the streets of NY after his ordeal, using art to express himself, and refused to reclaim American citizenship, etc. Very much worth the watch.
2) The Untold History of the US (Documentary series + reading the accompanying book)
"A look at major events that have shaped the United States and the world as it is today." - Network: Showtime
