In Ireland and Wales most people speak only English. They forgot their own language.

Well true but I very much doubt you approve of European colonisations of Somalia. The very same argument can be used. A concept of a United Somalinimo did not exist and so it was fair game.

They don't use it in daily life anymore. All the main urban centers of those two nations became Anglophone. It has been relegated to a few rural areas and even there it's threatened with extinction.

They honestly don't care. They adopted English as their own. Unlike the horn, the people of the British Isles have been in a union for hundreds of years although the Irish fought to gain independence in the 20s. They English and Welsh were united for quite a while whilst the scots were United by a single monarch.

How did you get that from what I wrote, I just don't get the hurr Charles Martel saved Europe bullshit. He was just looking out for his own fiefdom his forefathers stole from the Romans who stole it from the Gauls who stole it from the pre-indoeuropean populations.

Yes I love history. I did a half a minor in history, till they changed the whole course, and I left.

I think faith saved Charles Martel on that day at Poiters. At the time, it wasn't a major strategic battle for the Muslim armies, but for the Europeans it was life or death.

Yeah, true. From my understanding this was a battle of preserving ones faith and identity.

I've only read up on african history and european/american/canadian history. i know bit about the middle east as well but the rest of asia i know nothing about.

I know a great deal about American history. I've recently taken an online American citizenship test to see how I'd do and I passed with flying colours and when I did the British equivalent, I failed.

I need to brush up on British history considering that I'll be joking the armed forces.

its weird, i didn't intentionally try to learn about it yet i know a lot about their history. and I'm not even american lol. i feel like i know more about american history then i do canadian history.

I always thought American history was very interesting. It's history is highly militaristic which invited me even more.
