HSM said this only applies to businesses with merchant accounts and not person to person sending money to each other. If its only going to apply for Banaadir, how much revenue can the FGS raise?Jubaland says that this tax doesn't concern them, so will Hormuud takes this tax from Banadir alone or from other areas in the south as well?
The sales tax that the government collects now is around $3m to $4m per month, and most of this are goods taxed in the port where the merchant pays the sales tax before he sells the goods and no way to evade this tax, but since the new scheme only applies to merchant accounts it will be easier to cheat the system.HSM said this only applies to businesses with merchant accounts and not person to person sending money to each other. With the likes of Ali Ise, Bayle, Hodan I, F. Abraar, Gaas to name a few, working for the FGS, some in charge of the MoF with others at Consulting capacity, all with extensive, sound background in economics, finance, and accountancy of more than a century amongst them, they have not formulated a comprehensive taxing system for the FGS. What a bloody waste.I think most of the tax laws are from 1984/85 or 1966. The only time - that I remember- were they introduced a new tax law was 2023 (turnover tax). SL was using the same laws until they repealed most of those in 2016.
