The 165-meter-long jetty can dock two large boats with a capacity of 100 tons as well as numerous fishing vessels. The dock structure allows big trucks to load and unload from docked boats. Operationalization of the jetty is expected to bring Maydh back to the vibrant commercial centre that it once was. It will improve sea interconnectivity to Berbera and neighbouring countries for the hundreds of thousands of people living in the hinterland of Sanaag.

Maydh was identified as one of several ports and harbours for development under the Somaliland National Development Plan 2.
The twin activities of the construction of the jetty and support to artisanal fishers therefore a significant step forward for Somaliland’s blue economy.

Speaking at the official opening of the jetty, H.E. Saed Sulub Mohamed, Minister for Livestock and Fisheries Development, talked about their plans for the jetty “We’re not stopping there; we’re already working on expanding it. The design is almost complete.

Hey in Futuh Al Habesha didn't they say Harti are the people from/of Maydh is this where it all began? Sanaag could become Somalia's Yellowstone/Smithsonian so much history in one gobol. @Tropical Breeze you could make big bank from this. :yousmart:

Somaliland is centered on hargeisa-berbera corridor. No airplanes are allowed to fly anywhere in sl except Hairgeisa airport all the airports. You’ll never hear Borame airport or burco airport being on the news for welcoming somebody because they don’t work. I remember when maths was posted by that Hy user bohol 10-13 years ago.

Why are you derailing this thread?

A fishing jetty is working and you're talking about airports?

Start a thread if you want to discuss that instead of spewing it here

I came across an old map that labeled Maydh as Harti territory but today it comes under Isaaq. What caused this shift in demographics & control?

Darood and there cuqdad Thay began trying to claim the city 🤦‍♂️
Isaaq always lived there, even the Portuguese described the place as a sacred place for the locals, who do you think considered this place sacred?
Isaaq because most of their ancestors are buried there or around the area

Hargeisa used to belong to Absame, what do you think happened?

Hint: black hats and red coats
My tenth grandfather is buried south of Hargeisa. Darood have never lived there
The land in which Darood lived and we expanded with it is hawd and some eastern regions
