First Somali Manga

The manga is called Somali to Mori no Kamisama (Somali and the Forest Spirit). Obviously the mangaka is Japanese. The female protagonist is a human called Somali and her guardian is a Golum ( a skeleton yokai in appearance). The web comic is ongoing and currently at chapter 1.

Author is called Gureishi. The author's surname sounds like the Japanese Romanization of Qureshi

There's been some with a black protagonist too.

This one is very good but didn't do so well in Japan due to them not being able to relate to the era or setting.
The author (same as the much more popular manga Prison School) has just continued his work on this after like a 15 year hiatus.
