The reason why the north has no terrorism is for mainly one reason and that is we have a history of never supporting or tolerating any kind of extremism. If AY never used Ethiopian the situation would have been completely different. Ofc ICU was not a long time solution to the problem. If anything if AY and geedi did what they did before icu was formed and it was just warlords I would have even supported them. Their plan was to diminish hg who, if we all admit, were a problem at the time. But they brought our enemies into our soil after icu brought some form of peace and opened up the port and airport after 16 years. Why wait till peace finnaly came to start a xabeshi invasion when you could have used Somali troops just two years prior to that?
You cannot compare the warlords of Xamar to the ICU. One had aspirations to consolidate and control much of the country. Ethiopia offensive began when ICU was close to taking Baidoa. Tough decisions had to be made and in the end, the moderates of the ICU joined the new government and the extremists went on to create AS.
Mogadhisa had 1000s of check points before Abdullahi Yusuf. No other man dared to restore law and order in Mogadishu at that time.
