There's a Wadi that crosses center of the city and people built houses and stores there, so unless they leave the area you'll hear this kind of floods every year or two.

they need to build a dam up the wadi, so that future flash floods don’t hurt the town.

when I was there last I saw a habar duq who survived a flood by clinging to a goat.
