Hey everybody, should I start something where every week I focus on one illness or drug and how its medication affects the somali population with one main core abstract?

We can vote on a couple of illnesses/drugs to look at each week and we can have a productive insightful discussion.

edit: or just illnesses in general and how it affects us more/less/neutal than other populations from a scientific standpoint

any suggestions or topics you guys might have pls quote them! I was thinking of autism within our community to be the next topic.

If this topic isnt interesting you, pick from one of the below or even one you have in mind

So far we have looked at warfarin sensitivities and stroke medication and even found certain alleles with potential links to dementia. We also managed to find inconsistencies inside a scientific abstract. We also got 2 people to give their results (hoping more take part) and if enough people give their results, we might be able to make our own reliable abstract from scratch. Change always starts in small areas. Who knows, we might even be able to break through to areas of science limited to phd educated people. First post was a success 🎉

thank you so much everybody. Special thanks to @Fez and @giire12 for providing me with invaluable information that could help save lives also @NidarNidar and his granny how could I forget about them

This is a good idea. Could you please also write a short summary of your interpretation of the researched data points? It’ll make thigs easier to understand for non scientific ppl like me.

I truly admire the incredible work you're doing for Somali medical research, mashallah, it's a real contribution to the greater good. I am always available if there's any way I can support or assist you. Also your an inspiration to somalis who have good education to contribute to their community, and hopefully your pharmacology experience will help us understand more about ourselves.

I would say one thing I admire about people on this website is that they created their own research about deep genome testing in Somali male y chromosomes right down to subclan level in order to prove or disprove certain clans. If they can do it, so can we. This forum provides the right breeding ground for genetic testing. If people have already taken 23andme, we can use their raw dna to further our research

Kill 2 birds with 1 stone
