Abdisaid revealed an interesting detail Farmaajo's government had for ATMIS. He said that there transition plan included removing countries that border Somalia from the peacekeeping mission (Ethiopia, Kenya, Djibouti).
He also said that the Berbera port deal signed by the UAE and Ethiopia included a clause for the Emirates to build a military base to which the FGS took objection and made a complaint to the UN security council. Eventually the Emiratis backed off and eventually cooled relations with Somalia. This was when they shut down the military base and hospital in Muqdisho. Ethiopia also made a U turn on this deal.
According to him, the 4 port commerical port agreement signed by Farmaajo with Abiy didn't even reach the beginning stages. The technicalities of this deal weren't worked on (which ports Ethiopia would operate in, investment splits, etc).
Not only him but Abdirahman Abdishakur have brought up potential FGS negotiations with Al Shabaab with Qatar as mediators in their respective BBC interviews. AA must have credible xog since he is well acquainted with many officials in this government.
