UNSC in November 2023 tells FGS to come up with a proposal for post-ATMIS security arrangements and present them to the security council before 31 March 2024.

The UNSC is the decider if the plan is acceptable or not. Obviously the FGS does the sensible thing and renews the AU mission This is just diplomacy, the FGS is requesting what they can't really avoid.

Whether you think they would’ve ignored our request for them to leave is speculation, so it’s not based on fact. While our request was the fact of the matter and the deciding factor on whether they stayed or not.

The FGS is not being asked to make any decisions at all.

The UNSC is acting under Chapter VII when requesting a proposal from the FGS and a proposal means the UNSC will make the decision.

UNSC is in charge of Somalia's security and the FGS is not in a position to defy them. They wouldn't even want to because there's nothing in it for them.

How much time? 10 years? 20 years? You and I both know this charade is ridiculous. The FGS had plenty of time to build a stable army even with the embargo but wasted so much time on qabil spats that the current "army" is nothing more than a tribal junta. This can't go on for much longer otherwise Somalia will become 100% compromised and nothing more than a cashcow for foreigners.
