Can you give me the details to the construction of Goldogob airport for research purposes. When it first began, how it was funded, what company built it, etc.

I’m not sure of the exact details but the idea for the airport has been around for a while however I think it was spearheaded by former transport and aviation minister Duran Farah he laid the groundwork for what we see today

The foundation stone was laid in 2021 . The guy leading project was Durhan Farah who was minister of air and transport.

first flight landed about a year later

I don’t know the cost but can’t imagine it’s super expensive as I belive locals collected most of money. The main costs was clearing area and shaping runway I think they packed dirt and gravel for it. The same thing for road leading from city to airport. If it was paved would be super expensive. The fueling also happens in Mogadishu and bigger airport so cost saved not having to manage associated tank pumps and logistics for fuel.
Last piece is building construction which shouldn’t be too much either.

Wallahi our iskutashi game is unmatched other Somalis can learn a lot from reer galdogob
Masha'Allah that's what intrugues me. Cities like Borama, Burco, Ceerigaabo, etc., have no airstrip at all, and you've got Goldogob city puttinf them all to shame with this development. The 3G road will only add to the success of Goldogob and surpass cities like that. This is what decentralization and isku tashi is all about.

🙌 yes this something can be accomplished with good leadership and peace by all Somalis. To many times money is wasted on technicos and weapons that set us back due to feuds, mistrust and wrong prioritizes. Hoping one day to see factories and good electrical power distribution next.

I think there is good and bad with that for example Galkacyo has airport very close to galdogob not sure if study was done on benefits of expanding it and building better roads and more buses so all can use it vs new one in galdogob to get most bang for buck. decentralization many times each clan wants to do its own thing and separate administration and you will see repeat of projects when it’s not citizens biggest need. Centralization and decentralization both can be good with right balance. Both I don’t mudug is great example with two admins splitting city and people trying to start 3rd on west side
