Garacad port will be able to handle containers. If you want a more details about it you should check out this thread. https://www.somalispot.com/threads/garacad-will-be-somalias-largest-and-deepest-seaport.63511/
Puntland has business connections with the people of hiiraan and southwest state, so many people from those regions have been using Bosaso port. Obviously this causes many problems such as the current capabilities of bosaso port can’t handle the load, and the distance is a massive inconvenience. Garacad port will not only solve this but strengthen and grow our business with these regions. The hope is also to include the people of eastern K5 and Oromo regions. Thanks made a spelling error was talking about container capacity as we only have berbera & Xamar.
What is the timeframe for this project, seems like a 5-10 work, there is no road connection through the Ogaden and that will cost a bucket load.
Why is this under construction when bosaaso needs work done - it is on the red sea which is a positive and connected to an existing road network
What I wanted to know is what port do the people use now

I heard they will start town planning in garacad. Imagine the city in 5 yearsWe’ve already met with Ethiopia and they agreed to build their side of the road for Garacad people don’t realize how much work has gone into this project.
I was just being honest instead of blinding twerking

Bosaso will be upgraded soon. As I said, garacad port’s market is mainly Ethiopia and south/central Somalia. No need to limit ourselves to just 1. This project will only help bosaso.Wouldn't it be easier to just build /upgrade bosaaso, it's cheaper and already has a population.
States only build a second pretty when the primary is already at capacity and fully developed.
No we dont need eyl port. After garacad is done if we are willing to get another port it should be Las khorey.Eyl port on the way.
