its very easy to build city wide drainage system I don't know why its rarely build, it will literally turn a negative into a positive. But no one even does normal cleaning before the gu rains, all that storm water turns into a cesspool causing disease and environmental problems instead of being collected and reused to water city greenery thats just one out of gazillion application of storm water.

Guri Iyo Geed iyo guri iyo nal, is already a Puntland policy, so don't say 'green up' Puntland, that is already happening. I would suggest the city needs to under-go a huge reformation in regards to sanitation where it is collected at each neighborhood or house and taken outside the city.

We must enforce in Garowe that each house caught littering will pay a hefty fine like we did with preserving puntland hawd from charcoal hunters. Each house must place their garbage in a bin and it will be emptied out each week by Puntland garbage collectors.

Public parks are super important. It sad seeing kids play in the road on their weekends. It doesn't even have to be green, just a designated area in each neighborhood will be Fantastic and go a long way for the health and beautification of the community

We also need good investments in car-parks, multi-storey especially around crowded market areas, this needs to be added as apart of the garowe masterp lan to zone out areas with high traffic by the garowe local council and invite investors to build enough car-parks around the area.

I think Garowe is nearly fully paved in all it's major roads, I can't wait till Puntland start building up secondary roads in the neighborhoods.

Biggest problem in Somalia is the lack of intra-roads. I have noticed roads from one city to another are 100X better then residential areas leading to an uncivilized look.

Pavement + Residential roads will transform any city.

Garowe urban planning under-way. This will be the area for by-pass road from the main road.



Once the road is laid, they shall follow thru with electricity-water network connection pipeline and invite residential investments. I urge they lay down the side-walk and drainage also.

As @Moeski said, if we had capital competition in Somalia, Garowe would lead the way as the best urban planned town. Puntland is planning to make 'garowe' 'zoned' out for govt, residential, industrial, retail, markets, and mixed use areas.

Garowe is the Dr's ancestoral home-town but it's not a 'magaalo' qabiil, waxay uu dhaxaysa all puntites and in the future all Somalis once it is declared as a responsible capital city unlike the baboons unuka leh family.

It doesn't have a drainage system. How will the city deal with flooding. We're making progress but we have a lot of work to do.
