Garres in chad ?

Does anybody know the backstory to hwo their are garre's in chad. Like when did they move their exactly? Is it some recent migration of somali ulema or merchants ?

There are actually Garre in Chad? i thought that was actually made up on some blog post from 2011 by some identity crised person.

Oh, no. It became a thing.

Toubous used to claim relations to Garres because they have a qabil that might sound the same or something along those lines, iirc. But they have no relation. I think the real Garres hit up the Toubous in Chad thinking they're cousins for real.

One of the Toubou leaders used to think they were related to Garres too. It's a common thing among the Toubous, but it lacks substance.
