Garres in chad ?

Does anybody know the backstory to hwo their are garre's in chad. Like when did they move their exactly? Is it some recent migration of somali ulema or merchants ?

Oh, no. It became a thing.

Toubous used to claim relations to Garres because they have a qabil that might sound the same or something along those lines, iirc. But they have no relation. I think the real Garres hit up the Toubous in Chad thinking they're cousins for real. :ftw9nwa:

One of the Toubou leaders used to think they were related to Garres too. It's a common thing among the Toubous, but it lacks substance.
 
I know a Chadian guy in London who believes this. He’s from that same tribe. Funny, I thought he was a Farax first time I met him

That's mad, I know the Quranyoow descend from Dir and the Tuff from Gardheere(Irir's brother), I've heard of the Chad rumour but without genetic evidence, I won't believe it
