Gen Z's back home

Gen Zs in Somalia have rapidly started to feel the effects of semi-Westernization through the internet and social media.

I've noticed that incorporating English words while speaking Somali has become somewhat of a trend.

🀣 I was perplexed and shocked when I heard a Halimo from wadanka forcing an American-ghetto accent while using cuss words. kursiga ka dhici tagay markaan maqlay :snoop:

They're all over different social media platforms, interacting with the world and actively socializing with ajnabis online.

. Based on the topics some of them discuss, you’d think they grew up in the West.

I hope and pray they don’t curb stomp the Somali rep further, all of their sins will be blamed on Somalis living in galbeed.

People from the third world particular in africa have this tendency to want to copy everything western and they do it in a particularly unaesthetic smd cringe way since its all new to them. they have a tendency to get one-shootted by the western trends. We can only thank God that Somalis speak their own language and so a lot of this is self contained in our own bubble even though we're on tiktok and a very online ethnicity.

It’s even worse in heavily westernized African nations we probably have it the easiest twitter opened my eyes to how social media has diluted other African cultures

internet makes the world more interconnected, I'm far more worried our western incel subculture get's transported over there than I care about random kids enacting movie scenes they've seen online

We have a brother born and bred in Somalia advocating for Atheism and secularism. He has a massive following and his ideas did affect many of his followers. He occasionally brings up sheikhs to karbaash. Ngl I enjoy some of his takes

Here is him directly challenging islamπŸ‘‡

Burgal is not an atheist. That lady in the video might be. The problem is that somalis in somalia have no idea how to approach this question of proof. Or how you know thing are true. Even though ulema have written dozens of books on this stuff in arabic . The dude was literally praying yesterday for his brother who died and told people to make dua for him.

If it's this bad why cant they just ban Social media? the issue is when your not educating your youth they will get educated in ghetto ways. They should first reflect on themselves and what service they are offering there youths rather than what they are doing wrong. To create the model citizen you want you have to create the society and educational platforms for them.
