It’s 1700 miles on the Mexican side and 1700 miles on the American side sounds fair to me both countries can call it what they want

It would be called gulf of Berbera. Not named after sub clans. Maybe instead of the bab el mandeb you could have the strait of issa but no one gives af about changing it.

Nah bruh the Yemenis only got the gulf of Aden because they got colonised like 50 years before us by the British. Even their whole protectorate was named after the city - Aden protectorate. I’ve seen some old maps which used to have gulf of Berbera. As the British expanded Aden they probably wanted to glorify its global importance so handed them the name. Although I’m unsure of how the bab el mandeb was named but it sounds ass
