Grocery shopping in Mogadishu

its catered towards diaspora . Even in hargeysa i saw food going for the same price as the US
These pwople are slow. Why catered to diaspora when you can make everything affordable for the locals. If your gone catered to the diaspora they will ask question on where those frozen chicken came from because it would make sense if your spend usd prices. In addition to this the diaspora understand Somalia doesn't have a poultry plant or even large scale chicken farmers.

I personally have been to hayatt mall and I was actually pretty impressed. It's like a Walmart/Asda type supermarket and it sells basically everything that you need. From food to clothing to electronics to perfumes etc... all found in one place. On the upper floors it even has a prayer area, restaurants and a kid play area.

It's was very clean , toilets were clean and well maintained, and it had many different western products which makes a diaspora feel at home. It even had islamic sections selling thobes, books and Macawiis.

I was very impressed. Didn't get the opportunity to go to this supermarket through but if I do ever go back to mogadishu I will sure check it out.

But I do think calling it the largets supermarket in Africa may be incorrect. But who knows it might be true.t
