Alot of hotep in this forum like to think harari belong to langaab semitic speaking groups when they weren't even mentioned before the 20th.

English accounts in the 1600s state that Harar was formally known as Barbaria.

In the early 1800s, It was documented that Harar was exclusively inhabited by Somalis. French account states the following,

Why are you hating on Harari, we lost the war and lost land to Oromos and some of us got even assimilated, the people who fought side by side with us in the Ethio-Somali war were the Harari.

Harari = a citizen of Harar. Somalis were the ones who settled and built the city, all current Hararis are Somalis with a lot of admixture with Oromos and Highlanders. And before HabeshSteven comes into this thread to cope, Somalis were always considered the inhabitants of Harar. The first Harari mentioned in text was a Somali and the soldiers that Ethiopia faced off against from Harar in the 1800s were Somalis also.

I’ve met a couple who have said there mixed with Somali remember Somalis have a major historical presence/claim to that city just my personal experience though just look at their 23andme DNA tests that should tell you everything

That's very true. The Ethiopian government committed many grave human rights violations against the people of Harar. As a result, many Hararis wanted their region to be incorporated into Somalia. At one point, Said Barres army was able to penerate Harar and was close to fully capturing the city before being pushed out by a joint Ethiopian-Cuban force.

Look it up bro, the Hadharem sailors moved all around the world, to the Swahili coast, Indian and Somali coasts and eventually settled in Harar, the trade in the region was ripe, this happened much later in the history of the city, the Harari are just the people of the city, you'll see various phenotypes in the city.

It’s hilarious how HabeshSteven indirectly states that all Hararis are basically inbred. like Harar’s population was at most a few tens of thousands in the 1800s, if they weren’t mixing with anyone outside for centuries then isn’t almost everyone in that city intermarried within a couple generations from each other?

Come on man, take it easy on them, all they have is harar, while somali's have a huge land, as well as us Oromo's. We Oromos and Somalis should be their best allies, especially the oromo clans and somali clans in the east who live near them.
