IMHO , they actually did a very good thing. Puntland elites should never ever lead Somalia again. That will also force PL elites to focus on their state instead of using it as a platform to become PM/President of Somalia. A lot of things like 1M1V were delayed by decades in PL because the elites there were focused on power in Mog. Mog majority made their position very clear in ‘91 laakin Soomaali dantooda magartaan

Why are you guys bothering to argue? The FGS is above scrutiny, accountability. No angels are going to run the FGS. You need to be a practical super villain to survive in that job. You are assuming that corruption at this level is sustainable. It is most certainly not and something will break eventually. Most likely sooner than not. You can either loot shamelessly for yourself or concentrate power in Somalia, but not both. Farmaajo tried to concentrate power but even he knew he couldn’t loot at the same time. It's the culture in that place that is basically unsustainable. Add an unaccountable government and it's not going to change. I think an accountable government could begin to shift the culture but then the city might turn against them, which means at the very least a new capital must be built or chosen at some point if the project is going to work.
Farmaajo corruption was using Ethiopia to suppress other FMS, stopping funds for PL, he also attempted to hijack the country. For the FMS he’s as bad as HSM, even worse in that he had much larger capabilities and he used all of it to centralize. He’s corrupt I’m not saying he isn’t, but it wasn’t financially, you could rest easy knowing Somalia’s money was going where it was supposed to.
That’s what I’m saying, he was trying to centralize power which is another form of corruption. The unfortunate thing for him is he wasn’t born from the tribe that is the majority in Mog. Hence, he was always a ‘guest’ and they would eventually overthrow him. Hawiye made this point clear 30 years ago but some Daroods just don't get it. If nothing could escape the eyes of the central bank and beileh where were they when monies meant for the government were not deposited in government accounts? No amount of sheeko sheeko will change this.
