have you ever met these so called somali Christians in real life?

it seems like somali christians have an outsized presence on the internet but I have never met any
some somali orphans were raised as christians in the colonial era, there were very few of them and many converted to islam later in adulthood, like Michael Mariano. Then you have a few children raised in fostercare in the west, some of those have converted to christianity

The ones u see on social media are most likely ethiopians or other larpers who are cosplaying as somalis

I suspect that there are a few hundred (im being generous here) actual somali christians in total, you’re very unlikely to ever met them

The only Somalis I have meet who left the religion were atheists although it’s usually a phase during the college years as you get older you get wiser and realize Islam is the one true religion

One of my peer in my childhood converted from Islam to Christianity. He seems genuinely happy but he keeps popping out kids. Not even 30 with 6 kids. Married some white lady

Yeah, ur more likely to meet an agnostic or athiest and for many it seems to be a phase
When you reach 16 you start to rebel against your parents teachings and think whatever your friends doing is better and it’s actually fun for a little while only when you get a little older you get hit with a reality check that if you keep acting like this you’ll end up in hell

For a Somali to be Christian, they would have to convert to it. The Somalis who end up leaving Islam usually become atheist or agnostic.

I've noticed most people, even many cadaans, get more religious or spiritual with age. It's not always true but with most people when they get less religious during their youth (teens into maybe 30s), it's not really a deeply thought out thing.

They never truly sat down and formulated a worldview, read books in either direction or what have you. There was no truly strong decision to be an "atheist". They just became more focused in on being youths chasing things like romance, travelling the world, partying and neglected their religious beliefs. These types are likely to fall back on the religious beliefs they grew up with as they age and, I've noticed, also display a higher degree of social conservatism as they age.

Just a general pattern I've seen again and again during my short nearly 30 years of interacting with lots folks on this planet.
