JSL is enjoying some sort of independence because the southern regions of the country which you are part of are unstable. Once xamar gets it's shit together. Somaliland will be brought to the table. You are confusing Somalians with sane and rational people.....I am convinced that Somalia would never grant Somaliland a referendum.
When the west get tired of repeating the same, again and again in Somalia without any result, then they would look to Somaliland and force the Somalia government to sign off on a referendum.
I mean the least thing Somalia could do, since they want Somaliland back to the union, is honour the agreement they made in the negotiation from 2012 to 2016.

You get the same treatment all other regions and states within somalia get. The gov is corrupt i am not against what you are stating. Which are facts, however to be granted independence which is how it works is different.
Ever heard about the kurds? They are the ones that actually fought isis on the grounds. Yet they are abandoned by their western and eastern allies. Somaliland did nothing for the world and expects the world to fight for it.
If somaliland got independence from somalia, it would set off an unstoppable chain reaction in our continent and further.
Secondly an referendum held by villa hargeisa will absolutely be corrupted since the people of somaliland are not allowed to have any love for somalia. So yeah give them an referendum and we will know the answer. This happened in djibouti with the french.
What we need is stability and progress. We don't have any functional sewages in most of the country including hargeisa. They had an working sewage system in al andalous 8 centuries ago. While still fighting what the borders are and etc. The normal people just want development. Which is hampered by all of this political fighting.
If you have the best outcome for the people at heart you will let go of sovereignty and start development. But noooooo we need to be an country because the people who we share an ethnicity, culture, language and religion with are different to us. Do you know how crazy it sounds. The only "sovereign" outcome is turning into north korea and fight everyone who tries to enter your "country".
Us regular somalis do not care about politics that much we just want to thrive and show the world what we can achieve just like back in the day.
Settle for an united union like the brits have. Be your own country within the union but be part of the union. Or else we will be in this situation till qiyamah.

I don't love Somalia THAT much to be complaining about facts
Majority of the people in Somaliland gave up their sovereignty in 1960 to join the union and a majority of the people want their sovereignty back today, that's the way it works, so this talk of states within Somalia and the relationship they have with Xamar is not the business of Somaliland.
What chain reaction would that be? - you know what, absolutely nothing will happen, most likely it will be a blessing for Somalia, then they don't have to play this stupid game of chasing chairs regarding the so called "kurasta gobolada waqooyi" and other nonsense that pull Somalia back...
I think the status quo will be the case for the foreseeable future and Somaliland will at the end have de facto relationship with most countries in Africa and beyond, like Taiwan.
It will keep building it's investments and political relations portfolio.

The chain effect is logical. Africa is filled with ethnic tribes that are split in two nations or more. Nigeria is an great example. The "mombasa republic" is another example.

It there was even a small chance of sl becoming the thrid somali country i would have been it's biggest supporter. However reality is different. They gave galbeed to ethiopia and nfd to kenya to hamper somali progress. Yet here you are begging them to make you an country. You don't beg to become an country you fight for it.
When British somaliland joined Somalia they forfeited their right to become an sovereign nation once again without support from xamar. Walaal it is not that hard. Force xamar to release it's grip on sl by war or lobbying not faking being an country. The majority of the world looks at it like why are they playing to be an country without the actual fight. And don't bring up siad barre because what he did in the south is nothing compared to what he did in the north. So once again walaal are you either fighting the sna or are you willing to come to the table. If i was in charge the conversation would have already happened and all of the fms would have been on the track of development.
Somaliland only exist because somalia has fallen once it rises back up no fms or break away region will disrespect our national security. And i hope it will happen soon for the sake of our young population.
