This is one of the reasons my folks are advising me not to go ceerigaabo because the region is too volatile and apparently theres always clashes between reer miyi dhulos hy and hj over shit along the route there

Erigavo is completely safe and there's no clashes there so don't worry.

I know of someone who drove all the way to Garowe from Burco recently and had no problems getting through checkpoints. Just make sure you travel with a local who knows the area at all times.
