The Caves of Dhaymoole are believed to be about 3000 to 5000 years old. The cave also depicts the place of sunset and sunrise, with the Sun on one side and the moon on the other side. It also depicts a camel, giraffe, elephant and other wild animals, many of which have become extinct in the region.

two human figures, a humped cow and two unidentified quadrupeds, all of them infilled in yellow and red. Human figures are depicted upright facing front, with arms outstretched to both sides. One of them, infilled in yellow, has a red triangle at the chest and a red line at the waist (garment?). Under this human figure there is a red humped cow depicted upright facing left. Around these figures there are two unidentified quadrupeds depicted upright facing left or right, and several unidentified red and yellow unidentified shapes. Dhaga Koure, Somaliland.

I thought these paintings were at least 9000 years old. So we were cave painting 3000-5000 years ago while during this time frame egyptians were making depictions like this about puntites who are according to some people the ancestors of somalis:

Somalia is basically a treasure trove of major archeological discoveries waiting to happen. Laas geel was only discovered in 2002. Sabaean inscriptions from the 7th century b.c in 2019. I can't imagine what else is out there .

Comparing state sponsored murials to ancient graffiti made by kids or nomadic pastoralist, read up Periplus of the Erythraean Sea and how Somali city states thrived in the 1st century CE.

The earliest cave painting Cushites are probably only partly our ancestors and would most likely represent an off-shoot of early A-Group Nubians who, in the form of the "Pastoral Neolithic", may have mostly been South Cushitic speaking.

A good chunk of our ancestors were still in Lower and Upper Nubia around 3,000-5,500ybp as Somali Y-DNA and the linguistic evidence imparts. This lady who was the Queen of a Pharaoh was seemingly an East Cushite, possibly even a Lowland East Cushite like Somalis and Afars:

The Kermans too were most likely East Cushites, possibly of the Highland East variety:

That being said, cave paintings like this are normal across pastoral cultures and were a thing even in Arabia and Somalia borderline into the Middle Ages.

As @NidarNidar says, it's disingenuous to compare the drawings of probably random kids and pastoralists passing the time while tending their herds to state sponsored art by professionals subsidized by a farming peasant class.

You're right that was a bad comparison. When I looked at your post it led me to think how other countries have cave paintings that are alot older than this so I wasn't impressed finding out the age of them. This led to compare what other countries were doing in the same time frame laas geel was made, however now that I've took into account that those paintings could've been made by kids it doesn't sound that bad. Another thing I should have took into account is that these cave paintings were only discovered recently by archaeologists recently and there may be older paintings that haven't been found yet.

I've seen some videos on it already but now that you've mentioned it I'll look into it.

That circle cross symbol pops up everywhere in cave paintings is it a coincidence or did it have symbolic meaning?

What does the encircled cross mean? It’s pretty crazy that we’ve been using the same symbols for thousands of years 😳

btw this photo is from ’An Archaeological Reconnaissance in the Horn: The British-Somali Expedition, 1975’

I believe it might be a sun cross or means village in Ancient Egyptian (Gardiner symbol O49).

The Egyptian hieroglyph Townsite-city-region is Gardiner sign listed no. O49 for the intersection of a town's streets. In some Egyptian hieroglyph books it is called a city plan. It is used in Egyptian hieroglyphs as a determinative in the names of town or city placenames. Also, as an ideogram in the Egyptian word "city", niwt.

It also pops up in mihrabs inside ancient mosques.

Apparently is called Sumadaa Awliyo , The Brand of Saint's . There was a bit of debate wether it was a christian vestige or some ancient cruciform that continued into the present

Some sections of the Sheekhaal clan in eastern Ethiopia use the cross as a brand on their camels . They also inscribe a cross on stones marking graves . This mark is called summaddii awliyo , meaning , " brand of the saints Sheekhaal are small priestly clan, aligned with the Hawiye clan family and are famed for their knowledge of Islam. Certain sections of Karanle (Murusade) Hawiye clan brand their camels with cross ....It is likely that further investigation would reveal that other clans use the cross as a livestock brand .
