Afars like most horners have south arabian unlike somalis.

However I don't think the public samples speak for Afars from djibouti which I presume are probably heavily Somali-like

Arent most of the afars in djibouti imported from ethiopia during french colonialism tho .

I believe they’re actually Amhara samples that are labelled as Afar. It’s a small sample that keeps getting recycled over the years.

Arent most of the afars in djibouti imported from ethiopia during french colonialism tho .

Those Afars already lived beside cisses in ethiopia

I think the model they have for afar is someone whos mixed or a fake,, I really really doubt they would cluster so close to tigrayans and eritreans and amharas, and cluster away from somalis and oromos..

I genuinely doubt most.. how is northern djibouti and afar region borders any different from ours? They have always lived in the northern regions and just like us, we travel through the borders like it doesnt exist. but if u have source i am curious bc you never know what ethiopia has behind their back..

I’ve never met a afar person ever, they mostly live in their region or have a small population in the diaspora

Funnily enough the people who started were Oromo but now we see a mix of everyone around the horn, even non east africans. Very nice little community

Some of these ajanabis are braindead when it comes to Somalis they make these assumptions due to religion

What’s your best assumption I think Somalis over exaggerate thinking they have the softest hair.

I thought so too until I saw their Y-DNA results. Very Habesha-like. Then some other new auDNA samples came out and it was the same. Then Sahos samples came out and they look more South Arabian admixed than most Habeshas in Ethiopia. So it seems legit

But there's still a part of me that looks at some Afar pastoralists deep in the Danakil and is like, "You saaxiibs look too uniformly Somali-like to not be genetically." Wish I could sample them, lol.

Yeah i remember that thread, they were making assumptions of us being inbred when in reality we are the purest of Cushites, we basically kept our stock ever since Proto-Nilotic and Natufians mixed, that’s why we cluster close to the ancient Neolithic pastoralists Kenya and Tanzania.

I'm friend with some Afar, they don't really mention their ethnicity, something I find is common among Ethiopians besides Somalis, the oldest brother looks Habashi but the younger one looks Somali, like almost a carbon copy of the average geeljire.
