from what I've noticed most study the same subjects nursing tech some into finance

always a new gimmick on every thread why can't anyone on here be normali will give it 20 more years and we will be the next yahuuds of the west mark my words. We are already doing this in Africa and the west will be our next victim
We have raising school qualification rates in the UK, which is to be expected from a former civil war community. We'll see the same success as other African ethnic groups in this country soon enough. I'd assume the same is happening in Canada, USA etc etc. The only thing that would make our numbers worse is new arrivals struggling

People follow where job security and money exist. Health and tech are the safe and long-term beneficial routes for people who seek a stable life or a return highest yield for the chosen education. I would not look down on this or downplay their rationale into mindless copy-paste group echoing. This reflects good thinking by Somalis.
Somalis are very far from collectivism if we use Asians as the quintessential benchmark. We're somewhere in the middle. Collective when it matters -- when it comes to norms and social morality-- which is crucial for all communities not to break down. Besides that, the Somali man has a very independent mind. Sometimes, too independent and rogue, like a warrior who is idle and serves no purpose, and can quickly succumb to bad forces. Often times we might be influenced by external things instead of harnessing our collective potential. That is why we have a bunch of individuals here who subscribe to self-harming ideologies that serve us nothing good. However, those are very group-think low critical thinking driven, mainly perpetuated by mainstream liberal thinking of the West, rather than an individual original grounding. Good collectivism would have effectively negated that.
To illustrate my point strongly, we'd have a centralized superstate if we were genuine collectivists (not that it is ideal, but it would be the direct pragmatic consequence). Collectivist cultures breed centralized, extremely systemic societies. Look at China, Japan, and South Korea. We are not like that. Ethiopians are much more collectivist than Somalis. That is why initially derg was popular at first, while whatever socialist system Siyad Barre came up with, most Somalis did not even subscribe to. It merely served as a bureaucratic governmental system and signaling for foreign diplomatic ties. We're not anarchic either. I see a lot of unformed people that think this -- an entirely ridiculous claim. We are a mix of things that can seem extreme if used wrong but are, in fact, the most balanced if harnessed right. The tuning just needs adjuments and patience. We've had times when it functioned, and times when things went in the wrong direction. Everything has its tradeoffs and drawbacks depending on contexts and implementation.
There is also a deep nuance to collectivism. Japan is a collectivist society but you will find big egos and self-interested individuals within the conformity that drives a society to the ground because of how it is not linearly dichotomous with hedonistic selfish pursuits.

All those fields pay well in America.
I literally know a few somali women clearing 80k+ as nurses. I even know one that's in school to become a nurse practitioner. Practitioners can make 120k on average. One of my cousins legit wants to become a CRNA in a few years. CRNAs can earn 200k+.
Finance careers pay pretty well too. Unless your trying to break into accounting, school choice absolutely matters in finance. If you can get into a highly ranked business school you can easily break into the 6 figures after you graduate.
Tech pays well too.
Honestly all these careers you mentioned pay well. The only thing our community lacks is proper parenting and guidance. With proper parenting we could have had hundreds of somalis graduating with stem and finance degrees every year just like Asian Americans.
The best fields. Nursing is the most stable. I have a lot of family members as nurses and they travel the world regularly. Also the ones in tech and finance are doing well. So are the lawyer ones.
If you come to Canada you will see a lot of Somalis in engineering. But we need more in law and different stem/health related jobs. Inshallah the millennial generation and gen z parents I have seen are more stable and hard working. The next gen of Somalis will surpass us. Unless Canadas economy keeps going down the gutter. Maybe it’s bad of me to say but I feel like the golden age of owning a home has gone and renting costs so much.

Im not saying that nor am I bashing anyone who desires to go to these types of fields its just that we need to have a lot more versatility when it comes to making money from different sources
Having a lot of somalis working in nursing, tech and finance will ensure we have a consistent amount of somalis breaking into the middle class.
