How come Somali Canadians are the worst at speaking Somali?

Y'all are a lost cause. The young, the teens, the adults all y'all have no shame. Walahi skinnies are the only immigrants who faan away from speaking their mother language. Indhyar's, Hindi's, Nigerians etc all speak their language with pride.

But yeah, I've notice they don't put much effort into it. You'll see 30+ year olds with jajab somali which is quite funny.
Jiboutis always go back home that's why their language skills are good. But they place as much emphasis on speaking French at home as they do somali which is bizarre

Who says it's faan? Take somali spot for example: this is a Somali site, but most of us prefer to communicate in English. Ain't nobody showing off about typing in English, it's just what we feel comfortable doing ( you included).

My thoughts are always in accented fob English for some reason. Has been for a little over a year now.

I think we should have af Somali thread where we post only in af Somali. And I'd like to see you @Freebandz @AbdiJohnson @nucleus participating
The same with reer waaqoyi/hargeisa they take frequent trips vacations and even live back home for a couple of months which is why most of them speak better Somali then Southern Diaspora youth.
But overall I have noticed how kids and parents in the States compared to Europe speak only English to eachother even the fobs who grew up in Somalia does that as well. The fobs even pretend to not even understand Somali
So everytime they heard I was from Scandinavia they would ask me if I could speak Af Soomaali which I found odd and disrespectful. I mean why wouldn't I know how to speak Af Soomaali, I am Somali aren't i? , some even applaud and compliment me on the fact that I could speak basic Somali.
Apparently the youth over there are shit at Somali and avoid speaking it for some strange reason and the parents facilitate by responding to them in English.
The youth in the states are caught between a dilemma of not being able speak English well and not being able to speak their own mother tounge at all. I bet it is no different in Canada.
