How do you say Hi in Somali?

there is no word for it. Maybe a phrase.

somalis are lazy bastards. Little to no cuisine, no culture other than a stupid camel(i love camel), and haan/dhiil,and guntiino, and dont get me started on our bastardized language of which at least 30% consists of borrowed words and phrases.

what have we done horta?:gucciwhat:

Our ancestors were lazy and so are we. kab haday inaga go'da tolan kari mayno walle we are lazy fuckers. if being lazy would get someone in hell, somalis would 100% be in hell. saqiir iyo kabiir ba.

Why are you always angry ninyahow?

They don’t exactly have a similar word in Arabic as hi, I think the closest word will be mar7aba. In Somali, I would’ve said to him, it’s waryaa and naayaa. Do you think Halimas will object 2 a white bloke calling them naayaa?

You can say Waryaa or Nayaa to get Somalis attention, it is simple gesture that is close to saying hi but considered offensive in our culture.

Somali language is rich in many other words other language's don't have a word for it, each language is weak in some parts or another.

Sorry Sxb, regarding to Aussie usage of the word Hi, it means an informal greeting, but to attract someone’s attention you need to say, hi there, hi dear etc. hey with an exclamation fits that latter meaning too.

We taught the kids in my school who wanted to know how to say hi; "abahaa waas"

The one Somali teacher was not happy when a group of Arab/Indian kids
said this to him:shookgabre:

While visiting Mogadishu an old guy couldn’t understand me and said to me, Xumbo ku qaaddee, xaad sheegtay. I was bewildered and my host said, it means Hi. Later on, he described to me what it actually meant and we had a good laugh about it. it’s now my favourite expression when I don’t understand those Somali teens who speak Somali like a Chinese guy learning Somali.
