Even the “present” fathers would take extended trips to Somalia (so kids never saw their dad) or they were emotionally absent/neglectful and didn’t do their part as a father

The ones I've seen I'd say the majority of somali households the father is in Somalia or the surrounding countries. They just don't like the west and voluntarily stay behind. They can't let it go as easily as the mothers. Some say the west is for women (they don't like all the rights women have there) They like the lawlessness and familiarity they have back home. They can easily get top jobs with their connections but in the west they gotta start from the bottom.

Now I'm not saying all of them are like this I'm talking about a percentage of them who do this. The ones I've seen whether they're still married or divorced the father is back home while the mother and children are in the west, they might visit eachother every year or 2 but that's about it.

There is a lot of fatherless somali households and there isn’t. Now hear me out. People tend to meet others who have shared the same experience in life.

What I have seen in real life and here is that many somalis say they have a present father or they don’t. Its depends on your surroundings.


Also big somali communities have more absent fathers, even adjusted for the population. I can’t explain it but you get what I mean

All my Somali friends have no fathers.. let’s not lie a lot of Somali dads are shit and very useless. Hence why a lot of Somali boys do criminal activities.. let’s hope this changes. Shoutout to the Somali mothers who are always amazing!
