How powerful is alshabab?

1. They are more organised than the somali army. Here if you call the police they'll come after a few hours and then charge u for the fuel costs and for their time, and only after u pay up they'll deal with your case. Alshabab on the other hand is always a phone call away and they'll arrive immediately

2. They have better intelligence. One mess up and you're finished, you're not safe in the whole East Africa if they write your name down

3. They always retaliate whether it takes 1 day or 10years, they never forget. No amounts of lacag can save you from there wrath

it's hard to fight an enemy when it's hiding

These terrorists will never face an army that is heading towards them and will flee. They do have excellent intelligence though.

1: Sneak attacks on army bases at night.

2: Hotel attacks

3: Using young men to assassinate people in the cities. You donโ€™t know the assassins. Could be the kids playing football right in front of you. They will kill you anywhere including in masjids.

well, it's easy to defeat al Shabaab.

use their same tactics: brutality, a network of spies, and hit and run warfare.

and use their defectors against them.

There needs to be an alternative ideology that reer Somalia from all clans can strongly support in order to defeat Al Shaydaan terrorists. All I'd say is avoid mixing nationalism with socialism as it would only result in mass murder surely

Actually they receive no external funding at all, in fact they're so rich they send money back to Al Qaeda's central command and invest in businesses and real estate in muqdisho
They are so rich. But they cant even buy shoes for their soldiers :mjdontkno: :mjlaugh:

The day we stop crying โ€œforeign supportโ€ and just realize they are better in many facets is the day we can begin work on fixing ourselves against them.

hopefully we get a new president who see this instead of cowering out to the easy โ€œWhy are they not called governorโ€ plea and spending 4 years on various state elections. We cant spend another half decade on anything but AS and a constitution.

lol that looks like a picture from 2011, also it's like 40 degrees there and boots are uncomfortable in that weather. ISIS was a conventional army, not really a guerilla force like AS where they blend into local population sometimes, sandals help with that. I think they use boots in certain scenarios though.

Lets face they arent going no where 16 years and they have outlasted USC in longevity. Why cant the government negotiate with them like the US did with Taliban? If the most powerful country in the world couldnt defeat them a failed state surely cant.

because the US doesn't own Afganistan as a core region but al-Shabab is in Somalia so there is no room for peace talks, the only option is war

Isis in somalia is pretty much dead, ISIS central command doesn't even publish news about them in their magazines anymore because they embarassed them. They're still in north east puntland, but it's only made up of majerteen and ethiopians. About 300 fighters but they are severely restricted in movement. AS's intelligence department applied pressure as well as US airstrikess and puntland security assaulted them. After they beheaded al shabaab fighters and called them gaalo they also started killing each other because abdulqadir mumin (their amir) got sick and there was power struggle.

Why cant we do what CIA/NSA does, listen into phone conversation, pull all the text messages from certain location. Hacking certain phone stealing their money, tracking them so that next time we ruin their plan. AI, machine learning, state surveillance whole nine yards. Once we defeat them we can unroll all these anti-privacy laws.

I wouldnt mind it but they are the winning side the conditions would never favor us.

AS cant come into power like the Taliban they are cruel, regressive, and bad for business. Can AS create an environment thriving with innovation, investments, western education, etc.

Western militaries are external forces fighting insurgencies ofc they wouldnt win but a local force can. Its the same way AS defeated IS in Somalia so easily. We just have to do better then them in terms of corruption qabyalad and infighting every state should work together on this and rebuild our social contract slowly around that conflict.

Qabyaalad is key they dont tolerate that shit thats why they are so cohesive and superior in everyway. Tribalism is our main problem and as long as 4.5 remains marginalized clan will support them. Our own Darood tribe in JL is losing to them and they have Jubbada Dhexe solely due to the support of the D&M, Madow, Cawrmale and other marginalized tribes supporting them over Darood hegomony. Same story in Shabeelaha hoose/dhexe and even Galmudug. As long as certain tribes hold monopoly of power and violence the minorities shall fill their ranks out of spite.

Tribalism and equality are the two major issues they thrive on.

We have the means to wipe Al-Shaytan terrorists out if we work together and have goals. We should never negotiate with terrorists.
