You are not a private person you're more likely insecure and scared of what others might think of you. Btw, classmates, cowokers don't count as friends. A real friend of 8yrs would know the real you unless you're oblivious about it.

I honestly just realized I'm a really private person.

My friends for 8+ years don't know where I live and how many siblings I have.

I never share that information even if they ask me which area I live in I give them another suburb close by.
Once my friend was dropping me home and I made her turn into another street near my street and faked going into some random persons house looooool she thinks I live there since ages

Also it’s your life. You do what you want and are more focused on your goals. When you’re not private, you’re at the mercy of so many people, and you end up not thinking for yourself and what you want out of life.

It just means you don't have close friendships.

You can know someone for 8 years and remain acquaintances, especially if they are workmates or schoolmates.

But don't overdo it, especially if there is a history of mental illness in the family (you might not know, but check with your parents). It could quite easily be an early sign of paranoid schizophrenia.

Privacy or not, we all have a close circle of people we trust, I'd say 3 to 5 max.
