From what I've seen last time I went back, French is mostly used at work places and school but I still had a hard time communicating since my Somali was reaaally bad at the time (still can't type it though but I'm getting better at it)
In everyday life they used Somali and the Afars used their language :francis:

I like ciise djiboutians. The sacad muuse ones don't speak good somali and they look daqan cilis. I think they trying to integrate too hard they forgot they are in somali territory :ftw9nwa:
