US recognition of Somalia was a failed policy. I think that's the new understanding. Somaliland sets a very high threshold for recognition when you consider the history.

I mean it is what it is and it could happen, not only for the base but for a sphere of influence. US position in Djibouti deteriorated and Somalia FGS is just whatever - a non-entity.
