The thing that saves Siad Barre to this day is that Somalia was not a shithole with terrorists blowing everything up. Back then, you could sleep in the streets of Mogadishu and no one would bother you. Imagine doing that today? What do non-Somalis think of Somalia today compared to back then? I don't even want to continue. No leader has been able to accomplish as much as he did in developing Somalia. The only good President since Siad Barre was Abdullahi Yusuf AUN.
