I don’t think it’s hard to be middle class in the UK infact it’s pretty easy. You go to a good university, get into a grad scheme, and then marry someone else who has done the same, which will put you in the middle class.

I was talking about living standards. The reason for UK downfall is our middle class are trash now. Liberalized welfare systems with a cost of living crisis means middle class have to pay full price on every single bill with no income support from the Gov. Really not much left at the end of the month.

I reckon the UK is about 5-10 years away from being irreversibly damaged

I agree. The only way to survive in London is to marry another person that’s on a 50k+ salary and even then it’s hard.
